i am walking down barson, fifty steps from my front door. it is dark and i'm trying to ignore the hooker down the street. she is placing one naked foot in front of the other as if every step onto the asphalt is another closer to her death. a large red suburban rumbles down the street, honks, and pulls over so that i can feel the heat from the engine. an overweight man leans across the empty passenger seat to ask a question in his stare, wanting me to be someone i am not and wanting my lips to say yes to his honk. but instead my feet keep its pace and my eyes says 'fuck off.' he puts his suburban in drive again and i want yell after him to throw it in reverse and go back to the hooker who needs a pair of shoes.

last weekend i was at st. patricks, browsing their box of free vintage catholic propoganda. suddenly there was a riot of a commotion and apparently the man who had just been in there had a gun and had just gotten into a fight and so on and so forth. there were cops everywhere; outside hoilstering guns and inside searching through racks of second hand clothing. a lady got in a car wreck for rubber necking [how wonderful that phrase is]. the latina ladies who worked there kept peeking outside and i was taking pictures like a tourist. they let the gunman go for some reason. so of course i snapped a photo of him as he walked off and in turn he yelled obscene words at me over his shoulder. i guess i'll take any excitement i can get these days.

and now, my backyard and fireworks.
[the photos are not dirty, it is my gross scanner]

my mother keeps teasing me that i when i was three i insisted that we become catholic and join st. mary's church, because i loved it there everso much. my only recollection of that era and place in my life was a long sky blue tunnel and a small boy who had a mechanical spider instead of an arm. today we saw "travellers and magicians" and now i am back to reading up on buddhism.

i keep finding that i do not know what to do with myself.

my first experience with film since the age of nine or so. only a couple pictures turned out decently, but i was just happy i got this banged up camera to work. a nice old stranger man gave me a new lens, and now i have more lens than i know what to do with. i'm still learning to focus and my light meter is still nonfunctional, so sorry if things look really funny. i'm working on it.

ok the rest are really bad quality. suffer.
